Parisi’s Lennie Cantrell Tops Under Armour’s “What’s Beautiful” Challenge
Cantrell Earns Honors for Proving Her Strength and Inner Beauty
Larenda “Lennie” Cantrell, Athletic Coach for the Parisi Speed School at the DeSoto Athletic Club in Southaven, received the Top 10 Honor for national athletic brand Under Armourâ’s “What’s Beautiful Challenge” nationwide competition on June 27, 2012. Cantrell awaits the July 3 confirmation that she has been voted to a Top 3 position by her peers, earning the honor of the “next fresh face” of Under Armour.
The “What’s Beautiful Challenge” is Under Armour’s first competition of this kind. It is comprised of 19 photo or video challenges, which are physical, motivational or philanthropic in nature, and posted onto its website (www.whatsbeautiful.ua.com) for the world to view and comment. Every contestant determines a goal and dedicates their challenges toward achieving the goal. Cantrell’s goal reads, “Prove my outer strength to the world, and my inner strength to myself…oh, and run the St. Jude half marathon while raising $2000 to help fund research.”
Cantrell’s challenges demonstrate not only her physical strength, but also a personal one as she reveals her past battle with anorexia related to childhood abuse. “I want to show everyone that, no matter how far down you’ve been beaten, you can rise above it stronger than you ever thought possible. And this Challenge was the catalyst I needed to tell my story so that others may discover the strength within themselves.”
